GRE是什么
想要去美国读理工类研究生或更高学位的小伙伴们要考的一种考试，全称叫Graduate Record Examinations.是由美国ETS考试服务中心设立的一个考试，是大多数美国研究生院的录取参考标准。
GRE考什么
一句话总结：考你的思维。有人会问，这和研究生有什么关系，其实，在本科以后的学习中，更多的需要在某一个细分领域钻研，钻研就必须要具备相应的思维能力，而GRE就是考查这种能力的一个考试，而不是考你的专业知识。

Verbal Reasoning
如上图所介绍的一样，GRE考题分为三类，第一类是语言逻辑类，不是单纯的像完形填空一样考察你的语言知识，而是通过语言来间接考察你的罗辑思维，在这一类题目中又分为三个小类
1阅读理解
- understanding the meaning of individual words and sentences
- understanding the meaning of paragraphs and larger bodies of text
- distinguishing between minor and major points
- summarizing a passage
- drawing conclusions from the information provided
- reasoning from incomplete data to infer missing information
- understanding the structure of a text in terms of how the parts relate to one another
- identifying the author’s assumptions and perspective
- analyzing a text and reaching conclusions about it
- identifying strengths and weaknesses of a position
- developing and considering alternative explanations
阅读理解考察多方面的能力，例如逻辑推理，能理解作者想表达的主要观点，能通过文章信息得出结论，这些都是在你被录取以后的学术之路上必不可少的能力。下面是一个例子
2句子填空
注意，这可不是高中里的完成句子，此类题主要考察考生在失去关键信息的条件下，能否根据残缺的句子和段落推理出整段话或整句话的意思。听起来是不是像破案一样？没错，来看一个例子。
3定位同义词
这一个相对简单，同样也是考察逻辑推理能力，正向词和负向词还有逻辑词之间的关系，只要掌握好词汇，通关不是问题。来看一个例子：
通过逻辑分析，空格内应该是一个和pioneering相近的词，而在语境里又可以引申出“创新”的意思，所以original和innovative就成为了正确答案。
Quantitative Reasoning
算术，代数，几何，统计，这些你们高中甚至初中就熟知的内容，没错，GRE的数学部分就考这些。比如下题要求比较质数的大小，相信只要上过初中的小伙伴们都应该会做吧，GRE数学没有你想象的那么难。。

Analytical Writing
分析写作分为两个部分，每个部分都是30分钟，第一部分是分析一个话题，第二部分是分析一个辩论。 案例如下：
As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
这是第一部分的题目，通常题目都是一个有思辨性的问题，可以从各个角度去看，会有不同的形状，目的就是考察学生的分析问题的能力和思辨力。再来看看第二部分。
In surveys Mason City residents rank water sports (swimming, boating and fishing) among their favorite recreational activities. The Mason River flowing through the city is rarely used for these pursuits, however, and the city park department devotes little of its budget to maintaining riverside recreational facilities. For years there have been complaints from residents about the quality of the river’s water and the river’s smell. In response, the state has recently announced plans to clean up Mason River. Use of the river for water sports is therefore sure to increase. The city government should for that reason devote more money in this year’s budget to riverside recreational facilities.
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on the assumptions and what the implications are if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

最近奥巴马在新德里的演讲中多次暗讽特朗普，看看他是怎么说的吧。“A pause on American Leadership”大家都知道pause是暂停的意思，但是放在这里可以很贴切的表达某件事情的发展受到了阻碍，由此可以引申到很多语境里，例如某项实施被叫停，可以说“A pause on the implementation of something”
Yet he made plenty of veiled references, many of which drew laughter from the audience. He talked about the importance of thinking before posting on social media, pointing out he had more Twitter followers than other people “who use it more often.”
这里veiled references完美的表达出“隐射”的含义，因为veil本来是面纱的意思，而带着面纱的提及将暗示的意思表达的恰到好处。
